After what felt like the longest pregnancy ever – due to being on and off bedrest and the pandemic keeping us home – our 5th baby is here. I was induced at 37 weeks due to preeclampsia, and while I wish I could say it was pretty straightforward, it wasn’t, unfortunately. I was pretty banged up afterward, and she had a short NICU stay due to low blood sugar. We are both home and both okay. I’m already having trouble with postpartum depression and anxiety, so I’m working hard to stay on top of that.
Her siblings were really excited to welcome her home, and her blood sugar is normal. We’ve struggled quite a bit with breastfeeding, but she’s doing a bang-up job of taking a bottle. Sometimes things just do not at all go how you want them to/plan them to… and that’s hard.
Despite all the rough patches, she’s the best completion of our family I could imagine, and I’m excited about getting into whatever our new routines will look like!
