(I started writing this post in 2016. We now have a 22-year-old, 7-year-old, 5-year-old, 3-year-old, and a baby due in May). I’m sharing this post now because while it’s not a great idea to go out on Valentine’s Day (lots of Valentine’s Day deals to be had by ordering in though!), I thought the idea of a coffee fest at home might inspire some, particularly since Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday. What better way to celebrate than coffee in bed – if your kids will let you!)
We have a lot going on right now (obviously), and I have a big announcement coming soon (Hint: I’m NOT pregnant), related to all of the things going on. We have our little 2-month-old, our 2-year-old, and our 17-year-old, and while it’s awesome to hang out with our kids, it’s also nice to get out on a date. We’re on a limited budget at the moment since I haven’t been working a lot – both because of having a 2-month-old who needs a lot of attention and because of allowing myself to take a little bit of a break before we move into our forever home.

Valentine’s Day Coffee Fest?
Our favorite local coffee shop, Reverie Coffee Roasters posted on Facebook that they were planning to host a Coffee By Candlelight event. It cost $40 per couple, so as far as things went, it was pretty affordable by Valentine’s Day standards. The premise was having delicious coffee drinks that paired well with delicious chocolates. It included unlimited coffee, chocolates for each of us, a gift bag, and live music.
We took full advantage of the menu they had, and ordered many of the different coffee drinks
Have A Coffee-Fest At Home for Valentine’s Day
Since it’s not the best idea to eat in restaurants yet – or hang out in coffee shops, there are a few options for creating a coffee by candlelight experience from home. You could support a local coffee roaster and purchase beans from them or even get some coffee to go. If that’s not an option, there are many great online options for getting your coffee.
Volcanica Coffee: Right now, they have a Valentine’s Day special going on – get four free samples of coffee with the purchase of three or more coffees. Having a coffee tasting date could be a really fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Detroit Bold Coffee: Buy three coffees and get $15 off.
Hawaii Coffee Company: If you love Kona Coffee (I know I do), then check these coffees out. They have traditional Kona Coffees as well as flavored items. Get 10% off plus just $5 shipping in the US.
Humblemaker Coffee Company: Purchase curated coffee bundles or gift your sweetheart a coffee subscription.
Free Lunch Coffee: Free Lunch Coffee is pretty neat – in addition to getting your coffee fix, you can also help end childhood hunger. “When you buy a bag of Gourmet Coffee from us, it also provides 10 meals to children in the schools of South Africa. We giveaway 50% of the money we make to end hunger from the lives of young children.”
Coopers Cask Coffee: Want a unique spin on coffee? Cooper’s Cask Coffee is aged in Bourbon and Whiskey Barrels. Get free shipping on orders over $39.
Add in some delicious chocolates from your favorite local chocolatier (in Wichita, we love Cocoa Dolce) or try out the chocolates from Astor Chocolates. They have some really cute Valentine’s Day items right now.
