Little Miss Ladybug is the only one of my children who has not had something I’d made to wear yet – and seeing that she’s already made it to being a year old, that was something that definitely needed to be changed. So, when Sofilantjes Patterns put out their call for testers for the pattern for their new baby line, the ADV Onesie/Romper, I was happy to sign up.
ABOUT THE SOFILANTJES ADV ONESIE PATTERN
The romper has an asymmetrical v-neckline that has a snap closure, snap closures on the bottom, binding on the neck and legs and armbands on the short-sleeves option. There is also a long-sleve option. The romper covers sizes nb-18months, and I made the 6 month size with short sleeves for my petite gal. The pattern is for advanced-beginners/intermediate sewers as making the binding do your bidding can be a bit challenging for a newbie.
The pattern includes pieces for every element of the onesie, so you won’t need to get the ruler out to get the binding pieces straight. I always like that in a pattern. I wound up using metal snaps rather than plastic snaps (which I’ve used many times), so those were a new experience for me, but that was fine. I love how it turned out.
ABOUT THE FABRIC I USED
The main fabric for the ADV Romper is Art Gallery’s Bon Voyage Lumiere. It’s no longer being produced, but I have some more in my stash (for anyone interested in ordering a custom onesie). The binding fabric is some black knit I had on hand. Both are super-soft, making them outstanding choices for an infant romper.
THE PHOTOS
My little gal loved her shirt. She hates wearing clothes, but was happy with this little onesie. She was happy to sit for photos…but she’s not yet a walker.
