I’m getting back into the swing of things, and I recently tested this super-cute Tulipa Dolman designed by Sew Like My Mom Patterns. If you’re a beginner sewer, I would recommend this pattern to you. It is really cute, and the directions are simple to follow.
The Pattern
The Tulipa Dolman has two main options: a straight bodice or a gathered bodice. There are two sleeve lengths: short and long. There are three garment lengths: top, tunic, and dress. Sizes range from 12m up to a girls size 16.
The neat thing about this pattern is you can play around with color blocking, fabric panels, and even applique and heat transfer vinyl. Because you can create a variety of looks with it, for those who enjoy sewing, the pattern makes a nice addition to your “basics” collection. There are three options for purchase:
The dolman sews up simply (as dolmans tend to do), and depending on what fabric you use, can be as casual or as elegant as you’d like to make it.
ABOUT THE FABRIC I USED
Both fabrics were super soft and super light-weight. My model really loves the shirt and how it turned out. They’re both knit fabrics, so they stretch, and both fabrics had a decent amount of stretch to them.
