Anyone who has been paying attention to this blog for a little while knows that I have a “slight” Badgley Mischka obsession. I still want to make the James Bond type dress from last year’s Vogue winter and holiday release. I’m in love with that black and white dress with the cascade, the only thing that’s stopped me thus far is a baby bump. 🙂 You’ll also recall the fun I had last year on my birthday when my husband took me out for a lovely dinner and I dressed up in a LOVELY IGIGI dress and earrings by Slate and Willow.
Well, Rent The Runway has just released the Badgley Mischka Exclusive Holiday Capsule Collection, and there are many dresses that I would love LOVE to wear once I’m done being pregnant…which should be sometime before the New Year (hahah!). In case you’re not familiar with the services, Rent The Runway is a great way to try those designer dresses, outfits, and accessories you’re lusting after without the total monetary commitment of forking out hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of dollars for something you’re going to wear one time. If I’d been able to travel to Dallas several weeks ago (pregnancy) to the awards gala being hosted by Equanimity Magazine in honor of raising money for the J.B. Dondolo charity (please help our water campaign), it would have been the perfect time for me to rent a dress! Most dresses come in sizes 2-22W, making it so that even those of us women who have some extra fluff about can enjoy wearing designer styles. I should also mention that they have great photographs of women who have rented the particular dress or clothing item so you can get an idea of what the garment looks like when worn.
Here are a few of my favorites from the new collection that run in plus sizes – since you know, momma fluff!
How lovely would this Merlot Sequin Sheath be at that fancy holiday party or fundraiser? It’s so festive! I’d pair it with some black heels (maybe even a bootie), some dangle earrings, and a French twist, and I’d be ready to go!

I LOVE (LOVE!) how elegant the Tilly Gown is. I mean, you put this on, and you have instant diva! If we were going anywhere special this New Years Eve, and I wasn’t staying in to nurse a newborn, this is the gown I’d rent. You can’t go wrong with sapphire sequins.

This stunning dress goes up to a size 16, so please be aware of that, but if you’re looking for an alternative to sequins and flash, it’s a great little statement dress for your less formal affairs. Plus, the Bettina dress is so much fun!

I’m personally not much of a jumpsuit person, but I know lots of people are. The Pippa Jumpsuit is charming – with sequins on top and pleated pants. How fun would it be to pair this jumpsuit with a pop of color in your handbag and shoes? I’m all for adding color for a splash of fun.

Here’s another just-released dress that is available in sizes 0-16. 6It’s the classic sheath dress. This style of dress is very flattering on fluffier figures with a lot of curves. It’s short and cheeky – just right for a New Years Eve party with your special someone.

Nothing brings classic Hollywood elegance to an occasion like a classy floor-length red dress. The Keera gown looks absolutely stunning on the women who submitted their photographs and reviews. This dress has “Powerful, sexy woman” written all over it. I love it.

Sometimes, I think that it would be fun to just get a gown like this and wear it around the house for a day. I mean, how princess/queen-like would that be? To be honest, I got the idea from the episode of Friends where Monica dresses up in a wedding dress and does the dishes. Too much fun!
