I promise, I will have something I made for myself soon. And a wine post, and a post about fall coziness! But, for now, I’d really like to share this skirt and headband I made for my little gal. I have plans to make a few more (don’t I always?). I have made three of the headbands so far. They all sew up quickly. If you need a great beginner pattern, this one would do the trick. You can learn how to do French seams (which are a really nice way of hiding raw edges and ending up with a good, finished look to your project.)
I sewed this set up as a tester, and found the fit and length to be great for both. The headbands areparticularly quick (I made two more one night when I had insomnia, and it felt like it took longer to cut out the pattern fabrics than it did to sew them up. Gathering the skirt took the longest when making it, but the skirt was still a very quick make. I plan to make another couple of these for my gal to wear. They’re a great stashbuster/scrap buster combination since they don’t take a whole lot of fabric or time to make!
The Knotted Headband pattern is available for free from Mummykins and Me, and the Easy Peasy Skirt is available right now for $3.50. (Neither of these is an affiliate link. I was provided with the pattern in exchange for fit notes and pictures).
I’ve got a lot I’ve sewn up recently for my little gal, and something I sewed up for myself. I’m excited to share these with you in the coming weeks. I washed fabric and have a pattern or two ready to start sewing for the baby, so I’ll have more about that project coming soon! I haven’t forgotten about my cookbook a week project, things just have been crazy here with unpacking, setting our lives up, and Wining Husband and Tiger Boy settling into their work and school routines.
In the meantime, here are some more pictures of the skirt and headband!
